Promote your brand on Instagram – building a business profile and strategy on Instagram

Create a professional business profile on Instagram. Find out what steps you can take to boost your sales and attract new customers. You’re just 10 steps away from a professional profile.

1. Specify the group of recipients

Building a brand image on social media should be a well-thought-out and planned process. The first step is to define your target audience. Who is your offer aimed at? Who are your followers? What are their interests and needs? Once you’ve answered these questions, it will be easier to plan your content.

2. Adjust the content

In the next step choose a theme for your posts and organise them into categories, e.g. tips, inspiration, product photos, sales posts, promotions, etc. Make sure your content is varied and show that your brand is, above all, a passion you’re committed to.

See, how Marta Dymek from Jadłonomia does it:

3. Let yourself be known

An intriguing bio will persuade your audience to click ‘Follow’. In this field, include the most important information about your business and write a few words about yourself. Customers value brands they can relate to. Tell your followers your story. Include a link in your bio to a video that, for example, showcases your business, and add your website address.

4. Set colours base colours

You surely recognise a few profiles, which stand out for their incredible consistency and depth. Do you want to discover the secret behind these atmospheric and stylish profiles? It’s simple! Their owners have been from the very beginning posting photos, in which certain specific base colours dominate. They play around with composition, experiment with descriptions, but they remain faithful to a single concept.

Take a look at the profile of Sonia, a blogger from soko.style. That’s what it’s all about!

5. Invite to take action

The rule is simple: instead of waiting for recognition, take the initiative yourself. For example, you could

  • Organise a competition
  • Run a campaign using the hashtag
  • Invite influencers or micro-influencers to collaborate
  • Publish photos from your customers
  • Share the results of the latest photo shoot
  • Ask for opinions or recommendations.

You can ! Remember however, that fans are more likely to get involved in the activity, when they feel, that you really enjoy what you do.

6. Post regularly

Not necessarily a lot, but regularly. Trust me, punctuality is a desirable trait in business, and it’s not at all difficult to achieve these days. Draw up a publication plan. Prepare a schedule of activities. Make use of business apps that will allow you to manage your post content quickly.

7. Create relationships

Do you like it when your followers leave comments under your photos? Encourage them to do so! Every now and then have a look at your followers’ profiles and leave a heart or a short, friendly message. Instagram users really do like to return the favour.

Build relationships – reply to comments and mentions, use the @ symbol to tag people, and return the favour by liking their posts.

8. Make the most of Instagram Stories

Stand out – go for authenticity! If you want to engage with your audience in an original way, make them feel that they’re part of your account. Host live streams, give them a glimpse behind the scenes of your business, organise polls or surveys, and let them slide the slider! You can use Instagram Stories to announce new blog posts, showcase your products, and share coverage of interesting events.

9. Hashtags

Hashtags group content together and make it easier for users to find your account. That’s why they should be relevant to the photos they describe! The optimal number is 11–15, though some sources suggest 15–30. You should test this and see for yourself which number generates the highest reach. Remember, more isn’t always better.

10. Give a present

There’s something you need to know about your followers… They love discounts and special offers! Every now and then, treat your fans to discounts, vouchers and limited-time promotions with a promo code, and they’re sure to reward you with increased engagement.

Analyse the results

And finally… Remember to monitor your statistics. Check which days and at what times it’s most beneficial for you to post. Analyse the actions that contribute to an increase in reach, mentions, comments or the number of likes. If you decide to run an advert, monitor the results of the promotion.
