The app for the Camerimage festival
Project summary:
We have designed and developed an app for Android and iOS.
We used JavaScript to develop a bespoke engine for displaying the festival programme.
We have designed a user experience that makes it easier to buy festival tickets.
We have included a countdown timer for upcoming events.
We have introduced the option to create a personal calendar.
Project objectives
The need to create the app arose from the extensive, week-long festival programme and the difficulties in communicating information about sudden changes to the programme. The system allows for quick amendments to the schedule, which are automatically updated on both the festival website and in the app via an API.
International Festival of Cinematography
Camerimage is an international festival for cinematographers. Every year, several dozen of the finest cinematographers come to the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. Until recently, film screenings took place in Bydgoszcz, but for the past two years Toruń has been the centre of the Camerimage events.
Technology and language
The application was developed natively in the languages Java for Android and iOS Objective-C. We have developed our own engine for the interface of the festival programme utilising native graphics processor support.
Functionality
We have developed our own web-based engine for displaying the festival programme. To achieve this, we used advanced JavaScript. The app allows users to view the programme, find out about films and talks, browse the latest festival news, navigate the city using a map, and vote. Adding selected items to your favourites triggers a countdown to the start of the event on the app’s home screen.
Well-thought-out UX
To meet users’ needs, we have introduced a well-thought-out UX. We have designed large CTAs in the mobile app that allow users to purchase tickets quickly. Thanks to the personalised schedule feature, each user can add films, panel discussions or other events they are interested in to their calendar.
